Responsibilities

WHAT DOES A COMPUTER ASSISTANT DO? As a Computer Assistant, you will serve as a system administrator, security officer and reviewer for various IRS applications used by Submission Processing. In this role, you will be involved in the coordination, control and direct operational support for computer systems. You will provide user support and training for Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software and various IRS specialized computer applications.

As a Computer Assistant you will:

  • Serves as System Security Officer/System Administrator for Account Management Services (AMS), Embedded Quality Submission Processing (EQSP), Enterprise E-fax (EEFax), Batch/Block Tracking System (BBTS), SharePoint, Website and various local locator services and/or other systems.
  • Reviews and approves requests for access to applications on the OL5081 system.
  • Creates user accounts, sets appropriate access rights, conducts analysis/maintenance of user profiles and provides user support on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides new and refresher training to users as necessary.
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves problems identified by users, elevating issues to other team members, systems analysts or IT as necessary.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. 

GS-7 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: General knowledge of the features, characteristics, and interrelationships of computer equipment, applications and utility programs, to assist in identifying problems; Practical knowledge of general diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles to identify required actions; Basic knowledge of the following IRS applications: IDRS, OL5081, AMS,BBTS, IAT, SERP, Control D. Basic skills in the use of the following COTS software: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, Adobe Acrobat, Business Objects. Knowledge of SharePoint and ability to create and maintain SharePoint sites. Knowledge of HTML and ability to administer Websites. Ability to carry out work assignments as directed.

GS-8 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Working knowledge of the features, characteristics, and interrelationships of multiple types of computer equipment, applications and utility programs, to assist in identifying problems; Knowledge of a wide range of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles to identify required actions and implement decisions; Working knowledge of the following IRS applications: IDRS, OL5081, AMS, BBTS, SERP, Control D. Advanced use of the following COTS software: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, Adobe Acrobat, Business Objects. Advanced knowledge of SharePoint and the ability to create and maintain Sharepoint sites. Functional knowledge of HTML and web site administration and ability to create and maintain a website. Experience in development of user guides, training aids and delivery of training to system users. Ability to carry out work assignments independently.

GS-9 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Extensive knowledge of the features, characteristics and interrelationships of multiple types of computer equipment, applications and utility programs; Knowledge of a wide range of analytical and diagnostic methods and procedures to identify required actions and implement decisions; Ability analyzing data to identify problems encountered on computer systems. Advanced knowledge and use of the following IRS applications: IDRS, OL5081, AMS, BBTS, IAT, SERP, Control D. Advanced use of the following COTS software: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, Adobe Acrobat, Business Objects. Advanced knowledge of SharePoint and ability to create and maintain SharePoint sites. Advanced knowledge of HTML and web site administration and ability to create and maintain a website. Extensive experience in development of user guides, training aids and delivery of training to system users. Ability to plan work and carry out assignments independently within an established timeframe.

-The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
